A two-day mourning in Kerala sports sector was announced in view of football legend Diego Maradona's death.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who condoled the death of Maradona, said that Kerala could be one place outside Argentina where he has highest number of fans.
State sports minister E P Jayarajan said in a statement that the sports department decided to observe two day mourning in the sports sector considering the deep sorrow cause to thousands of football lovers in Kerala.
Maradona, considered the greatest footballer of all time alongside Brazil's Pele, died following a cardiac arrest, two weeks after undergoing a surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.
The iconic footballer had visited the southern state for two days in October 2012 for a private event.
